Centrally located just minutes from the beautiful Lake Tinaroo Dam, a short drive from the historic village of Yungaburra famous for Restaurants and Markets, and just over an hours drive from the Cairns Airport, yet nestled amongst the many wonders of the Atherton Tablelands on the Cairns Highlands, Tropical Far North Queensland, Australia.

Wake to the sound of bird songs and the smell of fresh country air. See the kangaroos playing and the cattle grazing. Walk out on your private deck and view the hot air balloons on the horizon, or drop a line in the property dam - strike a sooty grunter or two.

Soak in the double spa in the Dingo's Lair or spoil yourself and indulge in a traditional HAWAIIAN TEMPLE STYLE MASSAGE in the privacy of your own cottage.

"Barking Owl Retreat" was aptly named due to the abundance of Barking Owls in our area. We also have a large variety of beautiful Australian Native Birds and Wildlife at our doorstep.
