Barking Owl pair hunting around the pond at the office

Hi all, Once again we have been flat out and don't seem to get to update the news any sooner than bi-monthly. So sorry if you have been eagerly waiting and please don't give up on us! We believe the pair of Barking Owls pictured above have been nesting since half way through August (earlier than usual) and we heard them again for the first time just over a week ago so we believe the babies are hatched and now flying around. One of the guests also sighted a whitish owl just after dark flying near the Dingo's Lair. We believe this may have been a baby Barking Owl as they heard them that night and the babies are white and fluffy when they are young. Our other news is the Geese have finally hatched their little family and now have four (yes four!) baby goslings. (That is what you call baby geese) 'Lilly' sat on 5 eggs, so 4 out of 5 ain't bad.

The goslings were not even a week old in this pic!
They are always hungry! On guard the geese are very protective of their babies

The goslings are either eating sleeping or swimming and they are growing so fast. See when they were less than a week old on the water and now at two weeks old below. Three of them are all distinctly yellow and grey and the other is more whitish and grey so we possible have a pied goose. That is a white and grey cross throwback. It is all fun and games here at Barking Owl Retreat and the dogs are doing well and 'Chilli' is now 6 months old. Time flies. It will be Christmas before we know it. Bye for now until next time. Oh P.s. if you have some cool
names for the goslings please email us.

What to name them? send in your ideas!

Our News page will be updated from time to time as we improve and update Barking Owl Retreat to ensure all our guests have the most enjoyable time here! Last updated 28/9/2011. See our Barking Owl page here.
