Atherton Tablelands Accommodation News page for new and returning guests to see what's changed, what's happening, and what's new here at Barking Owl Retreat.
Hi again everyone,
Wow, what a beauty! Chris caught a fat little Black bream on Saturday 21st June. They certainly are getting big. Well winter is finally here so book your stay to enjoy the dam hut's open fire place and ensure to bring the Marmallows! Let's hope these nice fine days are here to stay after all the rain we have had this year. Although everything is nice and green.
The Tenterfields 'Kato' or 'Chilli' have really been feeling the cold lately and are eager to put on their winter jackets.
Hilarious, 'Kato' looks like a different hairy dog but at least he is warm. Below we have some new geese after losing ours after weeks of large hawks circling the pond.
We have named the largest male 'Boss'. He is on the left pruning himself above. The geese came from a dairy farm in Malanda. We need to name the grey one and the other white one which I am hoping are both girls but think the grey one might actually be a boy. So I need a girls name and a unisex name just in case. Any ideas?
The Australian Hobby photo shown above was kindly donated by our recent guest Mary-Anne from Nsw. She has takn some magnificent shots and you can see more on our Birdwatching page.
Below is a photo of Plumed Whistling Ducks at Hastie's Swamp in Atherton. See a video of them on our Facebook page and see more Hasties swamp pics there as well as on our Attractions page.
You really must take the time to go to Hastie's Swamp on the Atherton Tablelands and I would personally class it in the top ten must do things if you are a bird lover.
Gee I thought we were a long way from the coast! Two pelicans dropped by our dam at the house in June 2014. The Geese were not impressed!
Just had to keep this lovely shot below on our website of cyclone Dylan's post cyclone sunset. Keep up to date with What's On on the Atherton Tablelands and plan your next stay.
